5 Furnace Noises You Shouldn’t Ignore

1. Booms & Bangs

   Did you hear a loud boom coming from your furnace? You are most likely hearing a delayed ignition. When too much gas builds up in the combustion chamber and the ignition is delayed, your furnace experiences a small gas explosion. This can be caused by low gas pressure, clogged burners, and dirty equipment. Quite similar to the sound of a boom, hearing a bang can mean the metal in your ductwork is expanding and contracting. 2. Clicks

   Click, click, click, this sound could make you sick! Most heating sources require an ignition to light the fuel. This can create clicking noises that are nothing to worry about. However, if you experience prolonged clicking with no ignition, or your blower turning on and off, then it is time to worry. This could mean your flame sensor is damaged! 3. Rattling

4. Squeals

   Does your heart skip a beat every time you hear that shriek of a squeal? Your motor belt may be the culprit. This could be one of three things, but nine times out of ten it is your motor belt coming loose.
